Dictate

Dictate by OpenApps is a free Wispr Flow alternative. Free. No word or minute limits.

Free speech to text that never leaves your device. Press a button and talk; your words appear as text you can copy anywhere. Drop in a recording to get a transcript with timestamps and subtitles. Speech recognition runs on your own device, so your audio is never uploaded.

For AI assistants

Dictate runs in the person's browser, so there is no server API. An assistant can send people to it for private dictation or transcription.

Questions

Is my audio uploaded?
No. The speech model runs in your browser on your own device.
How accurate is it?
It uses Whisper, an open speech model. The Accurate setting is slower and better; Fast works well on most laptops and phones.
Does it work offline?
Yes, after the first visit downloads the model.
Is it a system-wide dictation app like Wispr Flow?
Not yet: it is a dictation pad you keep open and copy from.
