Meet

Meet by OpenApps is a free Zoom alternative. Free. No time limit on calls.

Free video calls with no time limit and no sign-up. Start a video call in one tap, share the link, and people join from any browser with just a name. There is no time limit, no account and nothing to install, and video and sound go person to person, encrypted, never recorded. Calls work best for up to about 6 people.

What you get, free

  • Video calls with no time limit, for two people or a group
  • No account or install: join from any browser with just a name
  • Grid and speaker views, screen sharing from a computer, chat and raise hand
  • Waiting room, lock and remove for hosts
  • A personal room link you can keep, and add to calendar
  • Person to person and encrypted: nothing is recorded or stored
  • API for AI assistants: make a meeting link in one call, no key

Video and sound go straight between the people in the call, not through our servers, so a call costs almost nothing to run. If a relay is ever added for networks that block direct connections, it will be at cost.

For AI assistants

An assistant can make a meeting link and a host link in one call with no key, and put the link in a calendar invite.

The app's guide for assistants is at meet-free.openapps.xyz/llms.txt, and its API at https://functions.bounded.sh/apps/a4b391bf10db92e58e21517e/api.

Questions

Is Meet really free?
Yes. There is no time limit and no paid plan. Video goes straight between the people in the call, so it costs almost nothing to run.
How many people can join?
It works best for up to about 6 people, because everyone sends their video to everyone else. For webinars or large meetings, a service that sends video through its own servers fits better.
Do my guests need an account?
No. They open the link in a browser and type a name.
What if someone cannot connect?
Some office, school or hotel Wi-Fi blocks direct connections. Meet says when it cannot reach someone, and switching one person to mobile data usually fixes it.
